Engineer Staff ML Engineer at Docker, Inc

Staff ML Engineer designs, trains, and ships ML systems for governance and security capabilities while building infrastructure, data pipelines, and evaluation frameworks for Docker's Intelligence team.

Lead Remote Posted about 8 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Docker has been one of the most loved brands in developer tooling, trusted by more than 20 million monthly users and over 20 billion container image pulls. From solo founders to the world’s largest companies, developers rely on Docker to build, share, and run their applications across our suite of products including Docker Desktop, Docker Hub, and Docker Scout.

We are a globally distributed, remote-first team building the tools that define how software gets built and delivered. As AI agents redefine software development, Docker is at the center of that shift, providing the sandboxed environments, verified images, and secure infrastructure that make autonomous workflows trustworthy by default.

Docker’s long-term vision is to become the runtime for trusted autonomy. As agents become more capable and autonomous, governance, policy, identity, and audit become foundational.

The Intelligence team builds intelligence-driven product capabilities that make software and agent execution on Docker safer, more effective, more trustworthy, and more efficient. Because Docker sits at the intersection of models, tools, software, identities, credentials, networks, and execution, we have visibility into behavior and context few other platforms can see, and we think that visibility is the foundation for a new layer of value across the platform.

About the role

We’re hiring a Staff ML Engineer as one of the founding engineers on Intelligence Org. You’ll work directly with the team’s first engineers and manager to figure out what to build, how to build it, and how it fits into the broader Docker platform. This is a hands-on builder role with staff-level scope: you’ll shape technical direction, ship the first versions of intelligence capabilities into customer hands, and grow the foundations (data, evaluation, infrastructure) the team will rely on as it scales.

Responsibilities

  • Design, train, evaluate, and ship ML systems that power governance and security capabilities, starting with problems like prompt injection detection, behavioral anomaly detection, trust scoring, and policy recommendations.

  • Build the supporting infrastructure: data pipelines, feature stores, model serving, evaluation harnesses, and the feedback loops that make iteration fast.

  • Make pragmatic build-vs-buy calls. Use frontier models, off-the-shelf tooling, and managed services to move quickly; invest in custom systems where they create durable advantage.

  • Set technical direction for the team’s ML work. Own the architecture, evaluation methodology, model lifecycle, and the bar for shipping.

  • Help recruit, mentor, and shape the team as it grows.

  • This role may require participation in a 24⁄7 on-call rotation for the Agentic Platform; carry genuine pager responsibility for the services you build and operate

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of deep applied ML/AI expertise with a track record of shipping production systems. Experience in fraud, abuse, safety, security, or trust domains, where adversarial dynamics, imbalanced data, and high-stakes decisions is valuable.

  • 8+ yearsof professional, hands-on, full-time software engineering experience in backend, infrastructure, or platform engineering.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • You’ve built and owned the systems around ML models, i.e. data pipelines, serving, evaluation, monitoring etc. and have shipped customer-facing products end to end.

  • You use modern AI tools fluently in your day-to-day work and have a sharp instinct for when frontier models can replace traditional ML, when they can’t, and when to combine the two.

  • Experience with LLM-based systems in production - evaluation, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, retrieval, guardrails, agent frameworks.

  • Familiarity with the agent / MCP ecosystem.

  • You’re energized by an early-stage effort where the roadmap is being written as the work happens, and you make crisp decisions with incomplete information.

  • Collaborative and low-ego. You work well across teams, write clearly, and bring others along.

Docker considers visa sponsorship on a case-by-case basis based on business needs.

Perks

  • Freedom & flexibility; fit your work around your life

  • Designated quarterly Whaleness Days plus end of year Whaleness break

  • Home office setup; we want you comfortable while you work

  • 16 weeks of paid Parental leave (after 6 months of employment)

  • Technology stipend equivalent to $100 USD net/month

  • PTO plan that encourages you to take time to do the things you enjoy

  • Training stipend for conferences, courses and classes

  • Equity; we are a growing start-up and want all employees to have a share in the success of the company

  • Docker Swag

  • Medical benefits, retirement and holidays vary by country

  • Remote-first culture, with offices in Seattle and Paris

Docker embraces diversity and equal opportunity. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our company will be.

Engineer Senior Staff Software Engineer, On-prem at SentinelOne

Senior Staff Software Engineer owns the architecture of a distributed, mission-critical on-premises endpoint protection platform across multiple teams.

Lead Posted about 8 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Our Purpose

At SentinelOne, we are driven by a clear purpose: to give the advantage to those who secure our future. As AI reshapes how organizations build, operate, and innovate, the responsibility to protect them becomes more critical than ever. When you join SentinelOne, your work helps protect global enterprises, critical infrastructure, and the technologies shaping tomorrow. If you are motivated by meaningful challenges and want your impact to be real, measurable, and global, you will find purpose here.

About Us

SentinelOne is a company at the intersection of AI and security, pioneering a new operating model for cybersecurity. Our AI-native platform unifies protection across endpoint, cloud, identity, data, and AI systems to deliver autonomous detection and response with clarity and speed. By combining real-time analytics, intelligent automation, and a unified data foundation, we reduce noise, simplify complexity, and empower security teams to focus on what truly matters.

Our teams are builders, problem-solvers, and innovators committed to shaping the future of security. If you are excited to solve hard problems alongside talented, mission-driven people, we invite you to help us build a safer future for humanity.

What Are We Looking For?

We’re looking for people who are relentlessly curious and committed to continuous learning. AI is reshaping every function across our business, and we enable every team member, regardless of role or level, to build fluency in AI tools and concepts. Those who thrive here actively seek out new solutions, experiment thoughtfully, and apply what they learn to drive better, faster, smarter outcomes.

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer on our Self-Hosted team, you will own the architecture of SentinelOne’s self-hosted (on-prem) Endpoint Protection platform across multiple teams — a distributed, mission-critical security system deployed inside customer-controlled enterprise, government, and regulated environments. You will set the standard for how the platform achieves high availability, scalability, and reliability on infrastructure we don’t operate ourselves, and influence the engineering roadmap for the product line. You are a recognized subject-matter expert who reviews and elevates the work of other senior engineers and drives complex, cross-team designs to completion.

What Will You Do?

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Own and evolve the architecture of the self-hosted platform across multiple teams — backend services, data pipelines, control logic, and the deployment topology shipped to customers (containerized microservices on bare metal, delivered as an appliance/OVA) — and implement improvements to existing architecture.
  • Set the standard for high availability and resilience in customer-controlled deployments: clustering, replication, failover, consensus/leader election, and graceful degradation across single-node and multi-node topologies, and drive infrastructure cost analysis and optimization.
  • Define scalability and capacity-planning strategies that hold across a wide range of customer scale and hardware, and establish frameworks for performance, observability, and operational excellence in constrained and air-gapped environments.
  • Lead the translation of SaaS/cloud-native capabilities into on-prem architecture, refine vaguely specified complex requirements into robust, future-proof end-to-end designs, and define coding patterns and standards that span multiple teams.
  • Influence the engineering roadmap, drive medium-to-large initiatives that span teams, mentor staff and senior engineers, and act as a cross-team technical authority sought out to review the work of others.

What Skills and Knowledge Will You Bring?

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience, with roughly 8+ years of related experience and deep hands-on expertise in Go and/or Python across technologies such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka, Docker, and Linux.
  • Extensive, proven experience designing and delivering on-prem / self-hosted / customer-deployed software, including packaging and lifecycle for customer-controlled environments (appliance/OVA, bare-metal or containerized deployments, upgrades, and air-gapped or restricted networks).
  • A strong track record architecting distributed systems for high availability and fault tolerance in on-prem / customer-controlled deployments — replication, clustering, failover, consensus/leader election — and being recognized as a subject-matter expert in one or more of these areas.
  • Deep command of scalability and performance in on-prem deployments: horizontal/vertical scaling, sharding/partitioning, load balancing, capacity planning, and evaluating technology trade-offs and costs across customer-controlled hardware and environments.
  • The ability to take vaguely specified, complex requirements and create efficient, robust, future-proof end-to-end designs across teams; experience influencing a roadmap and leading multi-team designs; and excellent communication and mentoring skills. Experience with security products is a strong advantage.

Why SentinelOne?

AI is redefining how the world operates and rewriting the rules of security in real time, and SentinelOne was built for this moment. From day one, we architected an AI-native platform designed to operate at machine speed, not as an add-on to legacy systems but as the foundation itself. If you want to build where innovation and impact move together, this is that place.

We invest in our Sentinels with comprehensive, competitive benefits designed to support you and your family:

Engineer Staff ML Engineer at Docker, Inc

Staff ML Engineer designing, training, and shipping ML systems for governance and security capabilities while building supporting infrastructure and setting technical direction for the Intelligence team.

Senior Staff Software Engineer owns the architecture of SentinelOne's self-hosted endpoint protection platform, driving complex cross-team designs and setting standards for high availability and scalability.

Engineer Head of Engineering at Freddie's Flowers

Head of Engineering owns technology strategy, leads a high-performing engineering team, establishes system architecture, and drives AI integration across the product and business.

Lead Posted 1 day ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Freddie’s Flowers was founded by Freddie Garland in October 2014 with one ambition: to change people’s relationship with flowers. We believe flowers aren’t only for grand occasions, but they make every day special, inspiring creativity and sparking joy.

Our starting point was our direct-to-consumer subscription model, helping us grow a loyal UK following. We launched in Germany in 2020, and then in 2021 we secured significant backing from The Craftory, a like-minded purpose-led global investment house, helping us expand, develop and grow. 2023 saw us start our gifting service – bringing the best of Freddie’s Flowers to everyone who needs it (even last minute!).

From the seed of an idea we continue to flourish; we’re now a B Corp organisation. And our founding mission remains unchanged – to change the world of flowers, and to change the world with flowers.

The Opportunity

Technology is the operating system of this business. Every customer interaction and every commercial decision flows through it. The goal is to make that operating system fast, reliable, and commercially intelligent. To make engineering the function that enables growth, not the one that responds to it.

The strategic direction is set and board-backed. The Head of Engineering owns its execution and will shape what good looks like in practice. That means ensuring a high-performing team, establishing the architecture that will carry the business through its next stage, and creating the conditions for engineering to operate as a genuine partner with a seat at the table when commercial decisions are made.

There is material commercial upside that has not yet been realised. Partnering with the Commercial function around customer data that could sharpen targeting and improve retention offers a significant opportunity. Demand forecasting, pricing optimisation, and AI integration across the product are further opportunities requiring ownership & delivery. This role has the mandate and the board visibility to pursue all of it.

What You Will Do

– Own the technology strategy end-to-end and deliver against measurable milestones

– Set the bar for a high-quality engineering team across hiring, standards, culture

– Establish engineering as a product partner, shaping the commercial roadmap as well as executing it

– Make the architecture and infrastructure decisions that will carry the business forward

– Lead the AI integration agenda across the product and the wider business

– Represent technology at leadership level with clarity and commercial authority

What We Need

– Scaled engineering in a DTC or subscription business. You know what breaks under real commercial pressure

– Hands-on technical depth: AWS-native, comfortable with architecture decisions, capable of writing production code when it matters

– Has hired engineers and built teams before

– Commercially literate. Frames technology in terms of cost, risk, and revenue, and is comfortable in a board conversation

– Motivated by what gets shipped and what it delivers, not the sophistication of the solution

Why Take This Role

– Full ownership: you are leading this team and this function. The architecture, the hiring, the standards. All yours, from day one

– A brand worth building for: Freddie’s has a genuine founder story, a loyal subscription customer base, and a floristry-first identity that sets it apart in a crowded market

– Commercial impact at scale: the data asset, the AI agenda, the shift to a mixed subscription and gifting model. There is material commercial upside for a technology leader who executes well

– Board visibility: you sit in the leadership team, report to the CGO, and have direct access to the people making the strategic decisions

– A real brief with backing to match: the strategic direction is agreed, the investment is committed, and the mandate is clear. This is not a role where you spend six months working out what to do

  • Option to buy extra holiday days
  • Discounted flowers for friends/family
  • WFH (where applicable)
  • Learning and Development Support
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Cash plan with Medicash
  • Health and wellbeing sessions with The Mind Clinic
  • Team socials and events

Inclusion:

Freddie’s Flowers recognises our success is dependent on the success of our people. Freddie’s Flowers is committed to creating an inclusive work environment with a diverse workforce where everyone feels safe and valued. All applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age.

Location: Hybrid—Santa Clara, CA headquarters, 3–5 days/week onsite

Team: Kernels | Reports to: Engineering Manager, Kernels

Cross-functional interface: QA / Test Engineering

About the Role

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Test & Validation – AI Kernels to embed within our Kernels team and own the quality engineering function for our AI compute software stack. You will design and build the test infrastructure, validation frameworks, and automated verification pipelines that ensure correctness, performance, and reliability of software kernels running on next-generation AI hardware. You will serve as the primary quality interface between the Kernels team and the broader QA organization, driving alignment on test strategy, coverage, and release readiness.

This is a high-impact, deeply technical role that requires both strong software engineering skills and a rigorous quality mindset. You will work alongside compiler engineers, ML software engineers, and hardware architects while partnering closely with QA leads to define standards and share best practices across the company.

What You Will Do

Test Infrastructure & Automation

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks for kernel validation across simulation, emulation, and silicon targets.

  • Develop correctness and performance regression suites covering ML operators (GEMMs, convolutions, BLAS, SIMD ops, softmax, layer norm, pooling, etc.).

  • Implement testing pipelines integrated into CI/CD workflows, enabling rapid feedback on kernel changes.

  • Build tooling to automate comparison of kernel outputs against reference implementations (e.g., CPU-based golden references, PyTorch/TensorFlow baselines).

Kernel & Hardware Validation

  • Develop test coverage for software kernels targeting specialized hardware including AI accelerators, DSPs, FPGAs, and SIMD vector processors (e.g., Tensilica).

  • Validate numerical precision, edge cases, and boundary conditions for ML operators across data types and hardware configurations.

  • Partner with hardware teams (mixed signal, DSP, CPU) to validate hardware-software co-design assumptions and catch integration issues early.

  • Drive validation of compiler-generated code paths (MLIR, LLVM, TVM, etc.) through structured test methodologies.

QA Partnership & Process

  • Act as the primary liaison between the Kernels engineering team and the QA organization, aligning on test plans, coverage criteria, and release qualification gates.

  • Participate in QA planning ceremonies; represent Kernels team needs and surface quality risks early.

  • Contribute to and help maintain shared QA infrastructure, test standards, and reporting dashboards used across engineering.

  • Drive root cause analysis for test failures and escaped defects; work with Kernels engineers to close gaps.

Technical Leadership

  • Set quality standards and best practices for the Kernels team; mentor engineers on testability design and defensive coding.

  • Contribute to design reviews with a quality lens, identifying areas that require additional validation before tape-out or release.

  • Influence test strategy across the full software stack: from unit and integration tests to system-level validation on target hardware.

What You Will Bring

Minimum Qualifications

  • BSc in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or a related field with 6+ years of industry experience; or MS with 4+ years of experience; or PhD with 2+ years of experience, with at least 2 years focused on test engineering, SDET, or quality engineering roles.

  • Strong understanding of computer architecture, data structures, and machine learning fundamentals, sufficient to reason about correctness and performance of ML kernels.

  • Proficient in C/C++ and Python; experience writing production-quality test code in these languages in Linux environments.

  • Experience writing automated tests for algorithms targeting specialized hardware such as GPUs, DSPs, FPGAs, or AI accelerators (e.g., using CUDA or equivalent).

  • Familiarity with ML operators commonly used in production workloads: GEMMs, convolutions, BLAS, SIMD operations, softmax, layer normalization, pooling, and similar.

  • Experience building or working within CI/CD pipelines and automated regression systems.

  • Track record of owning quality outcomes, not just executing tests but defining strategy, coverage, and release readiness criteria.

  • Strong cross-functional communication skills; comfortable working across hardware and software teams and representing quality concerns to non-QA stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience embedded in a hardware-adjacent software team (AI accelerator company, cloud compute, or similar) rather than a purely software QA role.

  • Hands-on experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, including the ability to write reference implementations for operator validation.

  • Familiarity with ML compiler toolchains (MLIR, LLVM, TVM, Glow, etc.) and how to test compiler-generated artifacts.

  • Experience with embedded SIMD vector processors such as Tensilica.

  • Prior startup or small-team experience; comfort operating with high ownership and limited process overhead.

  • Experience defining and implementing formal test plans and coordinating release qualification with a QA organization.

Why This Role

You will have a direct impact on the correctness and quality of AI compute software that ships in next-generation hardware products. As the first Staff SDET on the Kernels team, you will build quality infrastructure from the ground up and establish practices that will scale with the organization. You will work with some of the best compiler and kernel engineers in the industry, with the unique vantage point of sitting at the intersection of hardware and software quality.
